Province of Macerata
Camerino boasts one of the oldest universities in Europe, founded in 1336 and still active today (UNICAM). The Palazzo Ducale dei Da Varano is an imposing Renaissance stately residence. The city was severely affected by the 2016 earthquake but is undergoing reconstruction. The Civic Art Gallery houses works by Tiepolo and the Venetian school. Also worth visiting is the Rocca Borgesca, commissioned by Cesare Borgia.
