Province of Pesaro and Urbino
Monte Carpegna (1,415 m) is located in the heart of Montefeltro and is famous for having been the 'gym' of cyclist Marco Pantani, who trained here on the steep cycling ramps. It is part of the Parco del Sasso Simone e Simoncello, two characteristic rocky plateaus that dominate the landscape. In winter it is a ski-mountaineering destination, in summer it offers paths through beech forests and pastures.
