Ancient village perched on the hill overlooking the Adriatic Sea, with palm trees, orange trees and a medieval old town that offers breathtaking views of the coast.
An ancient Piceno settlement, Grottammare was an important Roman castrum. In the Middle Ages it became the possession of the bishops of Fermo. Pope Sixtus V was born here in 1521. The upper village retains its medieval charm intact, while the lower part is a renowned seaside resort.
Grottammare is where the mountains meet the sea. The old village, with its narrow streets and brick houses, overlooks the blue expanse of the Adriatic. The palm and orange trees that grow everywhere give it an almost exotic atmosphere, unique on the Marche coast.

From Fano to Ancona, Porto Recanati to San Benedetto: every coastal town has its own recipe. Brodetto fish stew is the culinary soul of the Marche.

The Apennine Sibyl turned a mountain cave into one of the most enigmatic places in the medieval European imagination.

Travertine unites squares, churches, towers and palaces in a strikingly harmonious urban landscape.
