The Rocca Malatestiana of Gradara, built between the 13th and 14th centuries, is one of the best-preserved medieval castles in Italy. According to tradition, the tragic love between Paolo Malatesta and Francesca da Polenta, immortalized by Dante in the V canto of Inferno, took place here. The village is surrounded by a double wall, which can be walked along the patrol path. Inside, you can visit Francesca's Room, the Council Hall, and the chapel with Andrea della Robbia's altarpiece.
